That's right -- hot on the heels of the massive land grab rammed through Congress little more than a month ago, power-mad Federal bureaucrats are being turned loose on us again.
New wilderness designation is not universally popular with the grassroots.
And now, the radical environmentalists are going for broke with H.R. 980 (the so-called "Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act," or "NREPA"), trying to snatch up another 24 million acres of Northwest land for designated "Wilderness".
Written by a left-wing New York City radical, it authorizes greedy bureaucratic hands to snatch another 24 MILLION ACRES mostly in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, effectively putting it out of reach for public use forever.
Restricted hunting, no forest management, no OHVs. . .
. . . not even bicycles allowed!

I served as a U.S Congressman from Montana and as the ranking Member on the Parks and Public Lands Committee (16 years), then as a lobbyist for sportsmen and public land users (14 years).
I have seen firsthand how -- with the stroke of a pen -- a group of congressmen can wipe out your access to public lands.
If H.R. 980 is passed, politicians in Washington who hail from crowded suburbs will have finally succeeded in robbing the Northwest of their most valuable asset -- access and use of the most beautiful parts of America.
And under new forfeiture provisions slipped into recent land grab legislation, the Feds could be authorized to seize your car if your kids so much as take a rock or bone home with them!

*** Destroys thousands of jobs in the Northwest - virtually guaranteeing that not only does our fragile economy get even worse, but that it may NEVER recover. In fact, H.R. 980’s sponsor has flatly stated her bill eliminates countless logging and mining jobs;
*** Eliminates taxpayer's rights to manage their own lands through state and local cooperation, instead installing East-Coast and San-Francisco-based eco-radicals as Wilderness overlords;
*** Prohibits prevention of forest fires, and adopts the insane “let-it-burn” doctrine by prohibiting any and all firefighting equipment from accessing these areas -- while YOU AND I pick up the tab for damage;
H.R.980 will stop bicycling in its tracks in over 11% of Montana
And what does the Northwest get for handing over control of OUR land to a left-wing New York City eco-extremist?
Absolutely nothing -- except more taxes.
To add insult to injury, the “Northwest Land Confiscation Act” would withdraw hundreds of thousands acres of land from productivity, including timber and energy leasing.
Just from the reserves that we know about, that will cost our economy many millions worth of oil and hundreds of millions of cubic feet of clean natural gas alone.
Now, with all of this you may ask, “CAN H.R. 980 stopped?”
The answer is “Yes!” -- but it won’t be easy.
You see, after gaining a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate with the defection of RINO Republican Arlen Specter, the “Gang Green” in Washington believes this is their big chance to shotgun H.R. 980 through Congress.
That’s why you and I must fight back harder than ever! If we don’t, the “Northwest Land Confiscation Act” WILL become law.
Led by radical environmentalist crony Nancy Pelosi, the U.S. House has become nothing more than a rubber-stamp for anything President Obama or any well-funded left-wing special interest wants passed.
The good news is that so far, Western Democrat Senators are still testing the waters on this devastating land grab coming from the East Coast.
Even they know how radioactive this bill is!
That means our ONE SHOT to stop the Northwest Land Confiscation Act is over in the U.S. Senate.
But considering how often they kowtow to the radical environmentalists who have already devastated Montana’s land access rights -- not to mention its economy -- we must make our voices heard loud and clear.
